The Greatest Gift

The Greatest Gift (East Union Presbyterian Church, 1/4/2015)
I preached this sermon at East Union Presbyterian Church on January 4, 2015. My text was John 1:1-18. In the opening of this sermon I make reference to the Steelers' loss in a playoff game the night before. I also make reference to my previous full-time job at a consulting company in Wexford, PA.
Who Do You Love? (Deuteronomy 6:4-5
I preached this sermon at Emsworth United Presbyterian Church on October 26, 2014.  Emsworth is a smaller congregation and I've preached there several times. I have been friends with their pastor, Rev. Susan Maxwell Rothenberg, for several years. It's always a joy when she invites me to preach there. One of the members of her congregation was serving on the Commission on the Preparation for Ministry (CPM) and I was going through the care process at the time. I make reference to this in the sermon. There is a link to the audio file for this sermon below the jump.

Are You Pruned?

This is a shorter sermon, a meditation that I offered for a Lenten service on March 11, 2015, at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. In this meditation, I deal with an uncomfortable question: Are you saved? The texts for this meditation are John 15:2 and Colossians 3:1-14.

What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Reconciliation? (Philippians 2:1-11)

In the summer of 2014 I participated in a mission trip to South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho. It was an amazing journey. I have shared this story with a number of different congregations. I preached this version on September 28, 2014 at Jefferson United Presbyterian Church. The primary text for this sermon is Philippians 2:1-11.
